A 66-year-old female pedestrian died after a hit-and-run collision early Monday morning in Rockford. 

Rockford Police Department officers responded at approximately 1:30 a.m. to the 4900 block of East State Street.

The woman, whom officers found lying in the street, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An investigation is ongoing, and the Rockford Police Department will release further details when available.
